The George Biggs Fly:  Designed by George Biggs of Jerome, Idaho, this has been one of the best flies used in southern Idaho, Wyoming, and here in Nebraska for Rainbows and Cutthroat trout, and many kinds of warm water fish. Can be purchased in the southern Idaho area  as the "Sheep creek Special", but to us who had fished with George when he was still living, it was the "Biggs" Fly.   Materials; 2X or 3X long wet fly hook, sizes 10 thru 16, 10 & 12 most popular. Tail; fairly narrow brown saddle hackle;  Body; peacock herl or [medium or small] olive, brown, black, or variegated chanele;  Wing: Mallard flank feathers; Thread: Black, 6/0 Unithread or 6/0 Prewaxed nylon.  To tie: Wrap hook shank from back of eye to even with back of hook barb. Tie in butt of saddle hackle. Wind about 4 turns of hackle staying even  with barb  of hook. Tie in Peacock Herl and wind thread and it to just back of eye. Cut off about 5/16th inch flank feather fibers, roll to about 1/8th in. wide. Tie in back of eye with wing about the length of the hook shank. Can be left that length or cut off about half way. Whip finish.
