| Tying Instructions:
|
1.
Fit the bead over the barb of the hook, take it to
the eye of the hook and secure with a small amount
of superglue.
2. Start the thread behind the bead head and wind
the thread half way to the bend and tie in 1/12 inch
of copper wire,
and if you wise rape the wire round the shank 4 or 5
times and then continue to the bend of the hook.
3. Tie in several strands of peacock herl, and 11/2
of fine copper wire.
4. wind the herl around the tread and then wind both
thread and herl around the hook to make a plump body
upto the
bead head, tie off and trim herl.
5. Wind the copper wire in the opposite direction
than you wind the werl making 4 or 5 ribs to the
head and tie off.
6. Whip finish and varnish.
I prefer to use lite beads on the head, and weight
the shaft of the hook with 4 - 6 raps of copper wire
or lead as I find
the heavy heads tend to make the fly sit bottom up
in the water and you can adjust the sink rate of the
fly.
I use this fly as both on the main line or as a
dripper under a dry fly. |
